My Morning Skincare Routine!

Hi Owlets!

So, it’s spring and thank God, because I am so over this disgusting cold winter – every year it just seems like the longest season EVER! Anyway, because I am so excited for the nice weather to come, I also enjoy waking up early enough to start my day with my daily routine that I do to help wake me up and have my face looking and feeling pretty.

First things first, the daily struggle of getting out of bed – I have no advice for this, I am not a morning person and it’s super hard for me to get up, however, when the sun is out, and I know it’s spring or summer, that motivates me enough to get out of bed after an hour of snoozing. But, if you’re a morning person, you wouldn’t have those problems #firstworldproblems.

Today, I will share with you all my top favourite products I like to use to start my morning routine. Once I’ve made it to the washroom, here is what I use:

Face Wash

My favorite face washes I use are Nivea, Aveeno, and St. Ives. Each one of them does something a little different but they all work for my dry skin.

Nivea: Gentle Cleansing Cream

This cleanser feels like lotion when you squeeze it out, a clear indication that it’s also going to make my skin feel soft after I wash it rather than dry like a lot of face soaps and washes that dry out your skin by stripping your face of natural moisture. The smell of it is pleasant, very subtle and nothing too perfume-ee.  This cleanser is actually designed for dry skin and is enriched with almond oil that keeps your face moisturized and helps maintain your skins natural moisture balance. It’s good at removing excess oils, dirt, makeup and dead skin cells. I really like using this cleanser for all these reasons and because it works. Many of Nivea’s products have been a God-sent for me including this gentle cream cleanser that perfectly removes make-up and other impurities, protecting my skin from drying out and leaves it looking healthy and beautiful 😊.

Aveeno: Positively Radiant Cleanser

The other daily face wash I like to use is Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Cleanser. It’s meant to improve 5 factors of radiance — tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness and brown spots. This is from the Total Soy Complex formula that’s in the cleanser. It also gently washes away make-up, oils and impurities from your skin and pores just like the Nivea Cleansing Cream. It makes me feel super fresh in the morning and it smells lovely. So, if you’re looking for a fresh gentle wash in the morning to improve the 5 factors of radiance, this is the wash for you. I have been using this was for the past 6 months and it’s definitely improved all 5 factors. I look alive!

St. Ives: Green Tea Blackhead Clearing Scrub

Lastly, I use this scrub, it contains a 100% naturally sourced exfoliant and green tea extract and it’s meant to unclog dirt and oil from pores for clear, radiant skin. Let me tell you, this scrub works! And it’s scrub factor is moderate, which means the beads are not overly harsh on the skin. Green tea is beneficial in so many ways for the body, including the skin that brings out the radiance. The scrub contains 1% Salicylic acid which helps to clear blackheads. Mix radiance and clear pores, what do you get? Sexy skin! I tend to get a lot of blackheads on my nose, chin, and cheeks. This scrub has helped reduce them and make my skin look clear and pores tight. If you have issues with blackheads and want radiant skin at the same time – this magical scrub is it.

After washing my face, I like to use a toner to help tone my skin and refine pores, the one I use is:

Nivea: Gentle Toner

Toning helps remove excess gunk and tighten pores. Nivea does have other toners for different skin types, but I chose the gentle toner for my dry skin. It’s important to choose the right skin toner for your skin type to prevent your face from feeling dry or tight. this toner will soothe your skin after cleansing, refine your pores and prepare your skin for the day. Just like a face cleansing cream, it is enriched with natural Almond Oil.

Next is serum – this is help with my aging skin and wrinkles (Ok I may not be that old but it’s always good to take precautionary measures).

Sublimessence High Concentration Age-Defying Serum: This is the serum I use for my face, it’s the highest concentration of exclusive Labrador Tea extract in a fast-acting, age-defying serum. The active Cell Infusion Complex boosts the efficacy and absorption of active ingredients for targeted care. With each application, the active ingredients penetrate the skin to reverse already-visible signs of aging, improves skin’s resilience, and fight skin aging. Yeah baby, I plan to look like J-Lo when I’m 40, I’ve been using this serum for about 6 months and I believe it’s been working, along side the other products I’ve been using.

Finally, moisturizer! The two that I have use and really love are the Olay and Aveeno brand.

Olay Moisturizing Cream Sensitive Skin: This cream I have been using for many years, I think since I learned to put on moisturizer, I have been using the Olay brand which my mom introduced me to. It’s very hydrating (low viscosity and not as dense as some moisturizers), light and not greasy. It doesn’t give me a matte finish but still very soft and fresh after application. If you have oily skin, this one wouldn’t be for you, as I feel it would make the skin oilier.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer: This is a new one I’ve been trying for the past year and it’s been nothing short of great, like many of Aveeno’s lotions. This one is a little thicker than the Olay cream and gives a bit of a matte finish. It’s not greasy and feels light on the skin and breathable. It even works nicely under my make up, and like the cleanser it also helps with tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness and brown spots – which I believe it has. Using the cleanser and cream together has really improved the skin on my face.

Both brands also have SPF versions of their daily moisturizers which is obviously really good for when out and about in the sun.

So there you have it Owlets, my daily routine with the various products I have tried. Let me know what your routine is and if you’ve tried any of these yourself, how was your experience? Anyway, enjoy this Spring weather and continue to love and pamper yourself.
