Hi Owlets! Today I’ve got a list of some of the new skincare products I’ve been using that I think everyone should try. I’ve always had issues with my dry skin, but as of late I started to notice uneven skin tones, breakouts, undereye circles and puffiness. I always forget I’m not in my teens or early twenties anymore, so I also forget my skin is aging too. So, in attempts to delay the process of my skin aging and getting damaged, I started to look for products I thought would bounce it back to youthfulness. I’ve been using these products for over 4 weeks and the results have been AMAZING!
This is my new obsession! I heard so many great things about Drunk Elephantand decided I needed to try their products. I went on the Sephora website and ordered myself the Rise + Glow Brightening Duo which consists of the C-Firma Day Serum and B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum. These are good for any type of skin and gives your skin a daily dose of vitamins. Let me tell you, since I’ve started using this duo, my skin has been softer, the uneven tones and textures have lessened and I feel the elasticity and firmness – which is exactly what these two serums do, they provide a daily dose for your complexion which deliver powerful antioxidants to firm and brighten while replenishing essential hydration.
How I use them: In the morning, after cleansing my face I mix 2-3 pumps of each of the serums in my hands, and apply to my face, neck and hands.
Awesome products, I would give them 10/10. Drunk Elephant is labeled as clean due to the products being free of parabens, essential oils, silicones, and fragrance. The smell of the product isn’t as pleasant (since it’s got no fragrance) and the serums can feel a bit sticky, but compared to what it’s done for my skin, I think it’s safe to say the pros weigh out the cons.
Now, I was never a Tarte purchaser, but many of my friends told me about how much they loved Tarte products and so as I was strolling the skincare aisles of Sephora, I happen to see a Tarte’s A-Team Skincare Set that contained a four-piece starting lineup of skincare standouts for your skin to glow and stay hydrated. The products were: Maracuja Oil, Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer Rainforest of the Sea, Mermaid Skin Hyaluronic H2O Serum, and a 4-in-1 Setting Mist – Rainforest of the Sea. So why not, I purchased it; always better to buy value sets when testing something new FYI, small quantities and cheaper. Again, these products can be used on any skin type and it’s meant to help with dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, and loss of firmness and elasticity.
How I use them: In the morning, I apply 3 pumps of the Mermaid Skin Serum to my face and neck, then I apply the Hydrating Boost Moisturizer – how to use these for different skin types is mentioned on Sephora’s website, however, they work great for all skin types – dry, combination or oily skin. The serum and moisturizer feel super light on my skin, like I’ve put nothing on it, it’s like my skin has absorbed it all, making it feel cool, hydrated and non-greasy. The serum contains vitamin B5, and marine plant extracts to provide powerful antioxidant defense.
The spay can be used in multiple ways: a primer, setting spray, or a skin refresher to add freshness and moisture to dry skin. I’ve used it mostly as a setting spray and I feel it’s kept my make-up looking fresh and settled nicely into my skin – minimized cake look. The odd times that I have used to for a quick fresher-upper, it feels just the H20 moisturizer – quick absorption, feels light and quickly moisturizes.
For the maracuja oil, I’ve applied before bed after washing my face. It promotes firmer, brighter, and smoother-looking skin. The oil can also be mixed with your favourite foundation to enhance the hydration benefits. It’s naturally packed with vitamin C and essential fatty acids to help boost radiance. I love this oil, the deep hydration it provides my skin and the blemishes its diminished has me head-over-heels.
I have purchased many Clinique products in the past and they’ve always been great. But since using my Tarte and Drunk Elephant products (interchangeably), I decided to also include a couple of my Clinique products to the mix: Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush and All About Eyes Rich Moisturizer.
How I use them: Before applying my serums and moisturizers, I clean my face with the foaming cleanser with my Clinique cleansing brush. It cleans off long-wearing makeup and sunscreen effectively and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean and not dried out like some cleansers. It’s concentrated into a long-lasting formula and it is recommended for daily use.
Once I’ve washed my face, applied my serums/moisturizers, it’s then followed by using my All About Eyes Moisturizer to end my routine – using the tip of my ring fingers, I apply just a bit and rub it under my eyes. It’s meant to minimize the look of dark circles, shadows, and puffiness.
Since incorporating these into my routine, along with my other products, I feel my eye puffiness and darkness have decreased, making my eyes look and feel awake and fresh.
Lastly, I looked into Jade facial rollers – they’re meant to be super beneficial for your skin and health in general, so I figured I needed to try it. I ordered a Rose Quartz Jade Roller from Amazon that claimed it helped with eye puffiness, sinus pressure relief, provided even skin tone, help with wrinkles and collagen.
How I use it: after I wash my face (morning or night) I use my roller on my face, with little to no pressure rolling one way upwards, not back and forth, under my chin, cheeks, nose, under eyes and forehead for 5 to 10 min. I love the coolness of the stone against my skin and the relaxing massage it gives my face.
Since using this roller, I definitely feel as though my face is a bit more defined, my skin is glowing and looks and feels younger – I’m not that old, but I feel the plump, glow and youthfulness. I don’t have sinus issues, but I’m sure this will prevent me from getting any.
Using all these products together have brought my skin to the next level and the best I’ve had in a very long time. I will continue to look out for more new products, test them and let you all know what’s good! Note: I use my Tarte and Drunk elephant products interchangeably and sometimes together, for example the Drunk Elephant Serums and my Tarte H20 Moisturizer. You can use the products whichever and however way you find fits you, just use them correctly.
If you have any skincare products you think I should test out, let me know!
